Participation Guidelines
By participating in this playgroup and during class time, you are agreeing to try out:
Keeping an open mind about new ways of seeing and interacting with babies.
Using respectful and thoughtful language when speaking about the children in their presence.
Practicing giving your baby uninterrupted time to move their body without your help—i.e. not putting them into positions they cannot get into or out of themselves. For example, if your child has not yet achieved rolling from back to belly, put them on their back for class time. If your rolling/army crawling child has not achieved the ability to get into a sitting position on their own, put them on their back for class time where they can practice rolling to their belly to get to their crawling position. If your crawling child has not yet achieved independent standing or walking, leave them to explore the environment by crawling, cruising, or getting to standing on their own.
Using discernment about when to intervene in your child’s movement or socialization. Unless safety is serious concern, wait before intervening.
Keeping personal recommendations to the group in general alignment with respectful caregiving practices.
